…the same reason why most of us follow you on Twitter.
Exactly! Ha ha ha! I have 1.5-million followers in Twitter and it’s unimaginable how many are from the Philippines. I think it’s an awful lot.
There were a lot of buzz about Sandman being translated into film. Should we expect a movie adaptation of the epic graphic novel?
There are definitely news out there, but I never say things are going to become movies or not because you’re always wrong.
The only movie that I was sure that’s going to happen was in 1998, we would definitely going to make Beowulf and then by 2004 the only movie that I was sure that will never happen was definitely that version of Beowulf that died in 1998.
And I was wrong both times. But it’s definitely looking good for a Sandman movie. To be honest, all I wanted is to not have a bad movie made. I would rather have no movie than a bad movie because what I really like is a great movie.
As in Stardust and Coraline, as an author, really what you want is when somebody come out of a movie based on a book you’ve done, the audience would say, “That is the best movie I’ve seen in my life” rather than “It was brilliant, it was artistic, it was funny, the actors deserve Oscars but the book was better.”
So if you will cast the Endless who would you choose?
Oh! I don’t know. The trouble is I could probably cast the Endless really well from dead people right now but casting them from them living I think is so dodgy because I did this once in an interview some years ago and they next day I saw that it was repeated in newspapers around the world and it was saying Neil Gaiman wants, say, Sean Connery as Destiny. I mean, well, I was just joking.
