Pacquiao vs. Clottey: Post-Game Analysis

We barely saw Joshua’s face in all 12 rounds of action, protected by two defensive arms covered with a pair of knockers that looked more like a headgear than a punching glove.

Strengths
In all fairness to Clottey, it seems like Manny didn’t see his defensive strategy coming. The Ghanian challenger endured all the body punches all throughout.

You’ve got to admit, though, that his peek-a-boo style paved the way to a non-KO loss, at least. Hence, his reputation remains intact. He didn’t amuse his fans much with his lack of offensive manoeuvre, but Clottey sure elevated his defensive game in this fight.

Manny Pacquiao
The pride of the Philippines marched his way to the tune of the “Eye of the Tiger,” and then executed a classic Rocky moment to perfection when the entire arena backed him up all the way with endless chants of “Manny! Manny!” from the get-go.

In comes Pacman, accompanied by this legend of a trainer named Freddie Roach, and people are just glad to see two of the greatest boxing greats in one corner.

Weaknesses
Manny sure did a great job of bombarding Clottey with hooks and body punches, but failed miserably in establishing a convincing punch to Joshua’s well-protected face.

That however would be the last of his worries, as Clottey didn’t seem to be much of a threat to Manny’s title 4 or 5 rounds into the bout.

Strengths
Credit must be given to Pacquiao’s fantastic display of strength, speed, and agility. Round after round saw Manny dish out punches after punches, and it didn’t even matter who or what he’s hitting.

Manny threw a slew of punches, eluded a couple of shots, ended the round, rested a bit, and then he goes back to perfect form in a matter of a few seconds. His punching power and amazing stamina proved outstanding in this bout.

It wasn’t a flashy fight, at least not on Clottey’s part, but both men proved effective in their respective game plans against the other. Our 9th round TKO prediction didn't really go the way we hoped it would be, but we're nowhere as tough as Clottey to say that we wouldn't have done the same had we faced Manny in that bout.

A good performance overall from our pambansang kamao, but is this his final dance in the boxing ring? With his WBO Welterweight Title all but secure, we sure as hell hope not.
