Guitar legend Les Paul
died Thursday, 13 August (Friday morning, 14 August, Manila time) in White Plains, New York. Respiratory failure is the cause of his death. He had been suffering from a serious case of pneumonia. He was 94.

Many know the name Les Paul as that fantastic Gibson guitar preferred and played by many a guitarist. Behind the guitar, however, is the man, Les Paul, known in the music world as the Father of the Electric Guitar. He is credited for inventing the electric body of the six-stringed instrument. Among his many other achievements are multi-track recording, the dual-pickup and the 14-fret guitars.

Apart from his back-end contributions to music, he also threw in a bunch of hits as a recording artist, both as a solo performer and as part of a husband-and-wife duo with Mary Ford, who was Paul's wife until 1963.

Les Paul is a Grammy and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer. Fitting honors for his priceless contributions to music.
